VAN HALEN: Bassist MICHAEL ANTHONY Nowhere To Be Heard On New Tracks
July 17, 2004According to MelodicRock.com, bassist Michael Anthony isn't credited on the three new songs ("It's About Time", "Up For Breakfast", "Learning To See") included on the new VAN HALEN compilation, "Best of Both Worlds", due on July 20. Appearing on the new tracks are Alex Van Halen on drums, Sammy Hagar on vocals, with Eddie Van Halen providing the rest of the instrumentation. No reason was given for Anthony's lack of participation in the new recordings.
In other news, CountryWeekly.com is reporting that country music star Kenny Chesney recently took his band to see VAN HALEN rock the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, OH. "VAN HALEN just blew us all away," said Kenny. "I mean, 'Diver Down' was the very first rock record I ever bought — all the way back in the 8th grade. And for a kid as country as I was, we're talking a HUGE deal. And there we were, completely rocking out — almost like Beavis and Butthead, Garth and Wayne from 'Wayne's World', because it's so cool to just be a fan, to see the people who showed you how big the music could be." Kenny didn't just see the show. He also went backstage and jammed with VAN HALEN's lead singer, Sammy Hagar.
